FRESHBOOKS REDESIGNED

Mike McDerment, FreshBooksOnline accounting software package FreshBooks has been redesigned. In what he called an open letter, CEO and company co-founder Mike McDerment said the revamp is needed to enable the company to meet its goal of serving self-employed professionals and their teams. McDerment, who said the re-write is still under way, said the result would be "A product that's easier to use, evolves faster and makes working with clients and teams easier."

The product is scheduled to be ready for access by summer. The monthly charge of the software will remain the same, but McDerment said as new capabilities are added "you may choose to pay more to use some of those new capabilities based on the value they bring." Overall, the product "looks different. It behaves differently," he wrote. The new package follows upon the January release of a redesigned iOS app. That technology "enables us to do more faster on mobile, and includes things like the ability to accept credit card payments in person," he wrote. "More mobile updates will follow alongside the launch of the new FreshBooks."
