RANDOM THOUGHTS: VERMONT'S SANDERS

Bernie Sanders, Democratic candidateAt the registration desk for Epicor's Insights conference, someone asked if I wanted to be listed as "executive editor" instead of just editor. I said, no, "executive editor makes it sound like I have people to boss around and the only person I try that with is my wife and that rarely goes well" .... Somebody asked me what I thought of Bernie Sanders, and I replied, "I just love his chicken; especially the extra crispy."

"That's Colonel Sanders. I'm talking about Bernie Sanders, the senator from Vermont who is running for the Democratic nomination for the presidency. "Oh, then maybe he can come out with VFC." "VFC?" "Yeah, Vermont Fried Chicken with maple syrup flavored batter." ... And in an advertisement planned in case Sanders fails to get the nomination, a car pulls up to the senator, who is sitting on a porch at a country store in his home state and asks, "How do you get to the White House?" "You can't get there from here," Bernie replies. ... In an effort to win Latino voters, GOP candidate Donald Trump plans to emulate the famous words of John F. Kennedy, who in a speech in Germany said, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Trump will kick of his first address in that effort with "Soy Latino." Observers are not optimistic about its impact. I told a friend that the Donald's problem is that many Latinos are like the first line of a famous Robert Frost poem—"Something there is that doesn't love a wall.' ... I was waiting in line at the airport and somebody asked the lady in the next line if she was with group 3. I interjected, "I think so, she definitely looks like a three." ... Police are looking for a 46-year-old man who stole $2,500 in Crest teeth whitening strips in numerous thefts over two months. Police describe him as a white male, about 5'8" with a winning smile.
