INTACCT NABS MCGLADREY, CLIFTON

Dan DrukerIntacct continues to do well in recruiting accounting firms as resellers. Its latest slide deck shows McGladrey on board, as well as Clifton Gunderson, which it formally announced. McGladrey joined via its acquisition of Intacct partner Caturano, but Intacct VP Dan Druker says other offices are now carrying the product. That's a pretty good coup and I'll put this in my quality firms that Intacct needs category. Also onboard was Synergy Business Solutions, a Dynamics SL VAR. And comes from owner Jered Cady help spell out how companies make these decisions.
Arxis Technologies, which choose BBD over Intacct, found it didn’t have the features it needed. Synergy looked at Acumatica, which has done well in recruiting SL VARs, but found that product lacked project accounting features and chose Intacct because it had them. It’s still a features game more than it is a matter of alliances. Clifton Gunderson, which sold off its MAS business a couple of years ago to concentrate on Deltek, had pretty much dropped off my radar as a technology company. It’s still not clear to me that the CPA VAR business for Intacct is the same business as the mid-market VAR business—and nothing wrong with that if you can make money—it’s just not quite a same creatures.
