INFOR LAUNCHES AI PLATFORM Featured

Charles Phillips, InforAdd another name to the "talk to your software" realm as Infor has introduced Coleman an artificial intelligence platform for Infor CloudSuite applications. Coleman follows the push by SAP for its Leonardo platform,  a broad Internet of Things system that also has voice response and Sage's Pegg chatbot.

The technology uses natural language processing so users can orally ask questions and give instructions. They can also receive recommendations and advice. Coleman is named after NASA mathematician Katherine Coleman Johnson, whose work was critical in the moon landing project and who was one of the figures in the 2016 move "Hidden Figures". Coleman was rolled out this week at the software company's Inforum conference. "Infor spent many years automating processes that followed clear rules, such as accounting and manufacturing processes. We are now leveraging machine learning and our access to large amounts of data to assist users with less structured processes such as complex decisions, conversations, and predictions," Infor CEO Charles Phillips said in a prepared statement. Infor says Coleman mines data and uses machine learning to improve processes. Elements available today include predictive inventory management for healthcare, price optimization management for hospitality, and forecasting, assortment planning, and promotion management for retail. Over the next year Infor is expected to introduce Coleman to Infor Cloud Suite industry suites.
