EPICOR DEMOS AUTOMOTIVE ECATALOG Featured

Scott Thompson, Epicor SoftwareEpicor is demonstrating what it calls the Catalog of the Future of the aftermarket auto products business. Utilizing a new interface, the systems enables parts professionals and technicians to use a tablet computer or wearable device to inspect vehicle systems directly from the service bay.

Although the demonstrations were being held this week at Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo, Epicor said the "advanced eCatalog content and connectivity already widely available within the North American aftermarket." Epicor said visitors to its booth could use the A/R interface to perform guided inspections of an automotive suspension and brake system. When the user points to a mobile device showing the vehicle system "a list of replacement components—along with corresponding pricing, availability, and other information from connected suppliers—is automatically generated via the Epicor PartExpert electronic catalog and Epicor Parts Network connectivity." They can also view available technical service bulletins and installation instructions, and order parts. "Although we're calling it the 'Catalog of the Future,' Epicor can already deliver this level of product and repair intelligence directly to end users in appropriately equipped service bays across North America," says Scott Thompson, Epicor's VP of automotive, analytics, and content.
