Justin Bass, Crowe HorwathCrowe Horwath (to be renamed Crowe next week) has promoted Justin Bass, previously head data scientist, to become the accounting firm's first chief data science officer. The Chicago-based organized says the new data science business unit has more than 20 data scientists.

Crowe noted the role is common at technology firms, not at accounting and consulting firms. Bass, who joined Crowe in 2015 as the firm’s only data scientist. The firm says the group “has incorporated machine learning into a few solutions in a very short amount of time.” The new role will have Bass continuing to focus on adding machine learning to Crowe applications.
