MAINTENANCE LIFTS COLUMBUS IT

Columbus IT Partner, the Dynamics reseller based in Copenhagen, returned to profitability in 2010 with net income of roughly $2.6 million, compared to a loss of $3.4 million for 2009.  Revenue rose to about $167.9 million for the most recently ended year, up 4 percent from 2009 when calculated in Danish krone. North American EBITDA was about $2.1 million for 2010, compared to a loss of about $387,000.
Revenue last year was roughly $21.8 million, 17.7-percent higher than for the prior year. The story for the year company-wide was maintenance revenue, which rose by 16 percent with consulting income  up 4 percent. While software revenue fell by 6 percent, the year-ago figure reflected  income from the sale of a retail software product to Microsoft. Based solely on year-to-year comparisons of sales of Dynamics AX and NAV, software revenue was up 14 percent. That stems from a continuing rise in AX and a decline in NAV. AX licenses and related revenue totaled about $120.6 million, up 12 percent, while NAV license and related revenue fell 18 percent to roughly $28.1 million. Personnel costs rose by 2 percent, even though the 893 employed at the end of 2010 was down 10 percent from 996 for 2009. The change in headcount occurred in Europe. North America ended the year with 78 employees, one more than in 2009. Contrary to the overall results, North American software revenue led growth with an increase of 33 percent while maintenance income was up 21 percent and consulting rose by 12 percent. The Columbus IT annual report for 2010 noted that further investments would be made to strengthen its position in North America because of the size of that market.
