DELTEK: WE'RE WINNING AGAINST NETSUITE

Kevin ParkerNetSuite spends a lot of time talking about customers it wins from other vendors. But this week Deltek CEO Kevin Parker dismissed claims the web-based competitor has made about making inroads against Deltek. "On the very low end of the business, NetSuite is out there. It’s a potential alternative, but doesn’t have the functionality we do or the experience," Parker said. "They [NetSuite] certainly make a lot of noise."
Parker made his comments during this week's conference call regarding the company's third-quarter results. Parker said that he investigated a claim that NetSuite had snagged a Deltek customer and found that it was a business that was using a product Deltek had stopped developing several years ago. On the contrary, Parker said the business is going the other way when the two companies compete. "We have never lost a current customer to them. We’ve got about a half dozen or so customers in the six to 12 months that have switched from NetSuite to Deltek and hopefully more on the way," he commented. In general, Parker said the market is so large that competitors really don't run into each other much. While SAP is the largest competitor in Europe, Parker continued that Deltek rarely sees SAP or Oracle in bids.
