SAGE TO RESELL HR CLOUD APPLICATION

Clifton Sage North America is getting to the cloud in the human resource market by reselling another company's software. Sage has signed a reseller agreement via which it will sell CornerStone OnDemand's SaaS product "in conjunction with its Sage Employer Solutions line of HR management tools." The product will start getting to market through this deal early next year but getting it into the Sage channel is likely to be a gradual process.

"It takes a lot to be certified in their product from an industry implementation and selling view point," says Clifton "Johnny" Laurent, VP and GM of Sage Employer Solutions. A select group of resellers is being given the opportunity to choose how deeply to get involved with the Cornerstone product, picking from implementing, selling or a combination of services. The Sage HR and payroll line will essentially work as a database for the Cornerstone product, feeding information to Cornerstone so that it does not need to be rekeyed. "All of that information stored within their HR their system of record will be transferred into the talent management system and then information back into the HR. It’s giving the HR professional one place to go," says Laurent. Cornerstone sells to small and midsize businesses and its line of talent management applications include the recruiting, performance, learning and extended enterprise clouds, according to its website. A publicly traded company, Cornerstone had just over $20 million in revenue for the third quarter ended September 30, an increase of 62 percent from $12.2 million in last year's corresponding period. The net operating loss was just under $3 million, up from $2.4 million a year earlier. Last year's net loss was affected by a $19.6 million change in fair value of preferred stock warrant liabilities and this year's did not reflect such a charge so the bottom line comparison is not particularly meaningful.
