DYNAMICS RETAIL RELEASE READIED

Kirill Tatarinov, MicrosoftMicrosoft will release Dynamics AX 2012 for Retail next month. The company made the announcement at the National Retail Federation conference this week. The 2012 release has multichannel capabilities that enable customers to buy, pick up, return or replace items via different channels.

Orders can be created and managed at the POS, while employees can utilize the dashboards in Role Centers to view information relevant to individual users and create orders and quotations without leaving the customer’s side. There is also integrated multichannel management and merchandising functionality. In a pre-show posting on the Executive Insights blog on the Microsoft website, Kirill Tatarinov, who heads the Dynamics business, wrote that Dynamics AX for Retail lets users make changes to a system, such as adding a store, integrating acquisitions or adding distribution centers via drag and drop. Using one of my least favorite phrases, Tatarinov said “We’re excited about the future of retail …” But that was followed with one of the most interesting points that Microsoft is bringing not just cloud computing to retail, and would also incorporate mobile applications and “Kinect touch-free interfaces.”
