VARS INTO THE CLOUD

Lindy Antonelli, AccessTekEvidence is building that part of the channel is not buying Microsoft’s cloud strategy. One example is long-time Dynamics VAR, Lindy Antonelli of Chicago whose Access Teknologies this year sold its Dynamics GP customer base to Sikich to concentrate on the Intacct line. A long-time SL VAR said he was being forced to consider the cloud because of Microsoft's lack of progress and is looking at Intacct and Acumatica.

His GP and SL sales are going very well, but as customers start asking for cloud stuff and he worries about Microsoft’s favoring bigger firms, he said he needs to diversify. Maybe that’s why channel execs, Intacct’s Peyton Burch and NetSuite’s Craig West, seemed to be in a good mood as they visited Convergence this week. Burch is a Houston-area resident so it was an easy trip and having companies recruit at a competitors’ shows is a hallowed tradition. But I think they were getting good traction. The defection of Stijn Hendrikse from Microsoft to Acumatica is likely to spur curiosity. Top Dynamics VARs aren’t roaming. Take IBIS CEO Andy Vabulas who said that “Windows 8 Server is a game changer”. But down the line, those smaller organizations worried about margins and cloud strategy having wondering eyes.
