MASTER VAR OPEN HOUSES; SO?

microsoft dynamics logoThe important thing in this item is not that Microsoft is holding office hours for Master VAR open houses. No, what is important is whether the program is going to do what Microsoft wanted it to do; whatever that is. The program continues in the mode that one of three Master VARs the SBS Group, continues to sign other resellers as sales affiliates at a steady clip.

The other two, Interdyn Socius and Tribridge, have signed one each since the program started in January. The message that comes second-hand from Socius is that the fairly large number of resellers contacting CEO Jeff Geisler are VARs that he does not want. I would assume the same is probably true of Tribridge. A blog post on the Microsoft website said the US Microsoft Dynamics Partner Team has announced there will be regular, informal “office hours” for the online events. Each of the three companies gets to make two presentations to prospects and two of these have already been held. Prospects can consider if they would like to sign as Sales Affiliates, doing business under a Master VAR's name.  But the critical issue is that  ever since Doug Kennedy seemed to back off the goal of reducing the number of resellers - the purported reason for considering franchising and then the Master VAR program - it is hard to believe that this effort has a sense of direction.  I now have trouble envisioning a clear purpose now, although Kennedy said the goal was to expand Dynamics downmarket. Meanwhile, the SBS Group has signed two more sales affiliates, I.S. Support of Louisville, Ky., and D1 Technologies of Franklin Tenn.
