ISVS: SDATA INTEGRATION LOOKS GOOD

Himanshu Palsule, SageThird-party software vendors went away from Sage Summit with at least the feeling that they were let in on more information than in the past. But while they welcome the promise of the ability to simplify the effort needed to integrate with multiple Sage products, they are not all sure it will work as planned or that development can take place as quickly as  hoped.
Sage demonstrated the integration with Sage products to a web-based expense management application during the Summit conference this week. Whatever application is used, the key is making it possible for the ISVs not to have to write separate code to integrate with each Sage product. One developer said his business would be able to write code once to integration with three different Sage products it now supports instead of incurring the time and expense of doing it three times. Sage is planning to recruit a few ISVs to bring their products to market under the first stage of this program, according to Himanshu Palsule, chief technology officer of Sage North America. SData is described as a communications protocol and utilizes a variety of Web Services standards. SData is available in version 1.1, but Sage is bringing 2.0 to the market, according to a website that explains the protocol and provides the licensing agreement for developers.
