DELTEK GOES PRIVATE AS DEAL CLOSES

Kevin Parker, DeltekDeltek has gone private as a $1.1-billion acquisition by Thoma Bravo has been completed. The private equity firm said Deltek becomes its twenty-fourth platform company in software and technology. The deal was for $13 a share and the Deltek management stays in place. Earlier, Deltek said that Thomas Bravo has a history of buying companies because it likes the management and strategy and tends not to make changes.
Resellers are generally reluctant to express an opinion on these deals, even off the record. But one, who is reasonably well connected, said the sentiment is that channel members are glad that the acquirer is not another ERP company and that it will probably be good not to be dealing with a vendor trying to make quarterly numbers for public consumption. I have had the sense that Deltek CEO Kevin Parker would probably be happier with the operation as a private company.
