SAP BOOMS IN 2012; CLOUD HOT

The SAP financial express kept zipping along in 2012. The company reporting a 9-percent rise in operating profit on an 11-percent increase in revenue. Meanwhile, software revenue was 8-percent higher than in 2012. The company said operating profit reached about $2.13 billion in the recently ended year. Software revenue hit $1.94 billion and total revenue $6.7 billion.

Things were even hotter in this county with software and software-related service revenue for the United States rising by 21 percent to about $1.45 billion. SAP will release its full results later this month, although these preliminary reports are very detailed by American standards. SAP cautions the numbers are approximate, not final. About $169 million in 2012 revenue came from cloud products and the increase was from such a small base that the increase was 2,000 percent over 2011. The annual run rate for cloud revenue is now about $1.14 billion.
