ACCOUNTMATE PICKS UP PRO VARS

David Dierke, AccountMateSage's decision to sunset its Sage Pro accounting software has been a boon to AccountMate. The Sage decision, "was one of the best things to happen to AccountMate," says CEO David Dierke. VARs turned to AccountMate's source code product and also helped grow a channel that had shown only slight growth since the company spun out of Sage nine years to resume an independent existence.  Dierke listed nine Pro VARs that are now selling as part of the channel of his Petaluma, Calif.-based company.

Dierke says it takes new VARS three to five months to close their first AccountMate deal. But despite the differences in the financial products, the biggest hurdle has been learning SQL Server. "It seems that the Pro Series SQL version release, wasn’t truly written to take advantage of the SQL Server software applications, so they never had to learn the application," Dierke says. To help resellers with the technology, AccountMate brought its Cebu, Philippines-based team to California to help with training. Besides that, Dierke notes, "We are providing assisted presales product overviews and/or in-depth feature comparisons with their prospects and have been averaging four a week for the last two months now, in addition to our normal presales demand by the existing channel partner." The Sage Pro refugees are A&M Data Systems, Woodbury, N.Y.; Koenig Software Systems, Houston and Austin, Texas; RLK Associates, Orange County, Calif.; The V Group, Burbank, Calif.; Lo-Jong Corp., Walnut, Calif.; Microworks, Fresno, Calif.; The Carpenter Company, La.; Blencowe Computer Services, Columbia, S.C. and Bittt Enterprises (which really has three "t's" ), Naperville, Ill.
