SAP UPDATES BUSINESS BYDESIGN Featured

David Sweetman, SAPThe fact that SAP enhanced Business ByDesign probably won't quiet those who say the product is dead. But it certainly has a lot of new features for a product whose future has been questioned. The additions include in-memory capabilities, meaning availability on the SAP Hana Platform. The company also announced what it called enhanced pricing flexibility that include expanded competitive pricing mechanisms.

Companies can drive special pricing to audiences based on user-defined criteria such as region, type or class of customer and industry-specific criteria. Pricing can also be based on two dimensions, such as by quantity of pieces or net weight. The press release touted the SAP Business In Focus mobile app and it also has a statement that is designed to reassure ByD customers, but still sounds a bit odd. The statement is from David Sweetman, senior director of global product marketing: "We continue to honor our commitment to SAP Business ByDesign customers and leverage the strength of the SAP Cloud portfolio and SAP HANA to deliver innovations that help them run efficiently and effectively their entire business in the cloud." That doesn't have the same sound as "We will continue to actively pursue new customers and establish ByD as a premier product".  Well, in my mind, anyway.
