BLACKBAUD BACK IN RESELLING BIZ Featured

Chris Clinton, Blackbaud Blackbaud hasn't been in the midmarket financial space since it canned its Financial Edge channel in 2005, although it has had a small channel remaining for its FundWare nonprofit accounting program. However, the Charleston, S.C.-based nonprofit vendor is back officially this month with the revamped Blackbaud Partner Network. Blackbaud actually had as many as 30 partner categories from its acquisitions. But there was no clear plan, according to Chris Clinton, VP of global channels and the partner ecosystem.

"It was apparent to me that the organization had no idea what partner programs were in which business unit and who owned them," says Clinton, who joined Blackbaud in November 2012. Clinton says Blackbaud needs a channel to reach $1 billion in annual revenue. Among the program's categories are Solution Providers, who can sell software, and Consulting Partners, who can perform services but don't sell. Built from a Convio program, it has new training and certification elements and will be rolled out over the next two quarters. Technology Partners are classic ISVs, although Blackbaud is expanding that group. "We have a lot of new, smaller ISVs," says Clinton, including developers of mobile, social and video applications, along with those who extend accounting functions. Sales Partners include Associate Partners, referrers who get 10 percent on desktop sales and on the first-year subscriptions. Accounting firms are seen as candidates for reselling, consulting and referrals. "We are revitalizing the Financial Edge reseller program We are going to be reaching out to a few of the old Financial Edge resellers hanging in there. " Clinton says.
