EXACT MULLS U.S. ONLINE PLAN Featured

Erik van der Meijden, ExactExact is trying to figure out a better way to market its Exact Online application in the United States and may decide to involve its Macola VARs. The product is available on the Intuit App store. But since the introduction of the cloud product earlier this year, 26 companies have purchased it and Exact has labeled the progress as being slightly behind plan. "It seems difficult to find QuickBooks customers who are ready to go for an industry solution," Erik van der Meijden said during this months' earnings webcast for the first quarter ended March 31.

Intuit had an earlier deal with Intacct to find a home for QB graduates, but that deal came to an end. Van der Meijden said a different go-to-market strategy appears to be needed than the one followed in Germany and the Benelux companies. (Hmmm, maybe this is the reason Intuit doesn't make an effort to publicize QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions). The CEO says the company is studying selling its system, which works with QuickBooks, by working with partners that address the manufacturing market. "We do see alternative routes to market," van der Meijden said. "We see Exact Online being sold through these entities and that includes-potentially leveraging the channel of Exact Macola. While Exact Online is one of many lower-end cloud products to hit the market in the last two years, it serves a larger customer than do products such as QuickBooks Online and Xero. Exact has versions for sole proprietors and during the quarter will be doing a controlled release of wholesale distribution under the Premium edition and manufacturing under the Advanced version.
