Ken Lorenz, SAPThe recent appointment of Michael Schmitt as the new head of the SAP Business ByDesign operation appears to be one of a series of steps in putting some life into the low end of the publisher's product line. SAP has invited the press to a conference call on October 17 in which "We will outline our strategy and talk about our go-to-market model and road map for SAP Business ByDesign in the near future and beyond." The big gun on the call is Rainer Zinow, SVP, SAP Cloud from the mothership SAP SE (once known as SAP AG).

On the Business One side, Ken Lorenz, a veteran of familiar names such as Great Plains and ePartners, took the job of senior business development director with SAP in September. His LinkedIn page shows Lorenz is "Responsible for New Routes to Market in North America for SAP's Business One ERP application focused on OEM's, ISV's and Large Enterprise Enablement for Global Deployment of SAP."  For Lorenz, it's homecoming He was with SAP from July 2003 through April 2009 and for the last four years he was business development director, global megachannel. He says despite the title change, the job is what he was doing in his first life at SAP. Lorenz was also enterprise sales director for SugarCRM from July 2012 through August 2013.
