SAGE OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES X3

sageIt was sort of a grand opening event as Sage had the worldwide launch of Sage ERP X3 yesterday in France; a grand opening in the sense the store has been open a few years. The newsiest part of this debut of the latest version of one of Sage’s worldwide products was that the company has created an international team to support the development of the Sage ERP X3 business.
I’m also told that Himanshu Palsule, the U.S.-based EVP who participated in the Webcast said that eventually all U.S. sales will be through resellers. Since the product came to this country, sales have been overwhelmingly direct, although the company plans to build a small channel. The only resellers that have been announced are Atlanta-based Software Link, and Laguna Hills, Calif.-based Blytheco. It was a strange media launch. There's a press release on the Sage France site for the “Lancement mondial de Sage ERP X3” (which I can barely read), but none on the Sage North America and United Kingdom/Ireland sites. Nor were there any on the Web its of Sage Spain (which I could have read decently), Portugal (would have gotten the drift); or Belgium/Luxemburg (would have recognized some Dutch words). An English one was emailed to me. Now, for a reason that’s not Sage’s fault, I missed the Webcast, so I figured, no problem, any event this big would have replays. Not so far. Palsule is scheduled to brief the U.S. media on January 29. I guess there was a big satellite lag. There were also URLs for four tandem vendor announcements, including Microsoft and Oracle. Looking at the URLs. it appears they were all from the Sage France PR side. They should stick to crepes, wine and Impressionist art. I presume Microsoft was there to explain its slashing prices for Dynamics AX to beat out X3 in competitive deals.
