EXACT MOVES IN ON ACCOUNTANTS Featured

David Lechleitner, ExactLong active with accountants in its home country of the Netherlands, Exact is building applications for firms in the United States. First out this summer is Exact Online Accountant, whose relationship to Exact Online is similar to the way QuickBooks lets accountants see into their clients' files and collaborate with them. Accountants will also be able to earn certification in Exact Online, says David Lechleitner, a product marketing principal for the software company.

Having the companion packages will help both parties, he says. "If I have a client that is doing his own accounting, instead of sending email," says Lechleitner, "If I am connected I can see within my application." Exact also plans to introduce a practice management application within the next year. "The first thing coming is customer relation management and document management and then we will build out time and billing," he said.
When Exact introduced the cloud package two years ago, it said its primary means of distribution would be to piggyback on the QuickBooks market, going for users that were outgrowing the Intuit package. However, the company has since decided it also needed to utilize the base of its three American manufacturing lines—JobBoss, Macola, and Max—and also to enlist Macola VARs.
