SAP RIDES S4/HANA TO STRONG 2015 Featured

Bill McDermott, SAPNetSuite may have to find another way to beat up on SAP after the Germany-based software company announced increases in revenue that included a double-digit rise in software license income for its fourth quarter. SAP also had what it called exceptional growth in cloud revenue for the fourth quarter ended December 31 as it issued its preliminary 2015 results this week.

The company's IFRS operating profit for 2015 was $4.6 billion, down 3 percent from 2014 but up 3 percent in constant currencies. Total IFRS revenue rose 18 percent to about $20.2 billion, an increase of 10 percent in constant currencies. NetSuite has feasted off a steady string of declines in SAP's license revenue but for the year the IFRS license figure was roughly $5.27 billion, rising 10 percent from the prior year; up 4 percent in constant currencies. "SAP gained significant share against core and best of breed competitors," CEO Bill McDermott said in a prepared statement. The software vendor said its high-profile SAP S/4Hana had a booming year end, more than doubling the number of customers in the most recently ended quarter with the installed base now at more than 2,700. IFRS cloud subscription revenue soared to roughly $2.49 billion for the most recently ended year, jumping 110 percent from the prior year; increasing 82 percent in constant currencies.
