ACUMATICA TO HAVE FIELD SERVICE

Mike Chtchelkonogov, AcumaticaAcumatica has acquired technology from Englewood, Colo.-based M5 that will enable it to launch the Acumatica Field Service Edition later this year. Acumatica had a lot of announcements at this week's Partner Summit. But CEO Jon Roskill summed up why I think this is among the most important. "It's the first foray of Acumatica into a vertical market," Roskill told attendees.

This follows in the same pattern of cloud vendors NetSuite and Intacct who have been ramping up features with their own products or partnering with other developers to get industry knowledge. The broader news was the announcement of Acumatica 5.3, now available. It offers an enhanced mobile app, a new web service API, sales order reporting, synchronization between Acumatica and Hubspot, the ability to reclassify GL transactions and support for Amazon's Aurora Remote DB Service. CTO and founder Mike Chtchelkonogov explained Acumatica's planned move to continuous updates and its move to the core .Net Framework. He also said Acumatica has no interest in moving its products upmarket. "Unlike our competitors who are moving up market, we are happy to let them have those deals," he said.
