SAGE LIVE GOES TO IOS Featured

Alan Laing, SageA version of Sage Live for the Apple iOS platform has been announced by Sage and Apple. And outside of the lot of nice quotes, the press release about this topic was lacking in a lot of detail. The more interesting statement is Sage Live will be sold through the Apple ecosystem. VARS are already wondering if there is any money they can make with Live. If Sage begins broadening distribution a lot, it is hard to see what future resellers might have. One of the real questions to be answered is the overall Sage product strategy.

The three strategic products include two on the low end—Sage One and Live—and one much higher, X3.between, what is the future of the product line? Is that going to be filled in as Sage edges into the cloud with the "c" suffixed products like 50c and 100c? It's very hard to see how what look like two mass-market products are going to work in the same company with channel products. Sage says the product for iPad, IPhone and Apple Watch is the first of a series of new products that will be delivered by the two companies for small business. Live is a product married to Salesforce and the press release announcing the iOS deal described the low-end product as providing real-time access to accounting data in the sales application and customer information held in Salesforce. Alan Laing, Sage's EVP of global partnerships and alliances, mentioned Live delivering accounting and payment services to small business. I don't remember much being made of payments prior to this.
