MICROSOFT HAPPY WITH ENVISION Featured

Duncan Garside, MicrosoftMicrosoft is happy with the attendance for its upcoming Envision conference and expects from 6,000 to 6,500 people. These numbers were provided in a recent conference call with the channel by Duncan Garside, head of experiential marketing for Microsoft. Garside said new registrations were averaging 150 to 200 per day mid month. It looks like sometime in the last month, Microsoft tilted the conference back more towards the Convergence model.

That included the addition of some good Dynamics content and making a more pointed attempt to recruit resellers and their customers—witness Garside's conference call. Garside expects most visitors will be from North and Latin America, but Microsoft hopes to position it as a global event. Envision was designed as a business technology conference, not one built around the Dynamics line as Convergence was. However, I get the feeling that Microsoft had to back off the original plan, of changing tires with the car running, a bit in order to boost attendance. The company's speaker roster is almost entirely Microsoft personnel, lacking the big name keynoters that some other companies are stocking their speaker roster with.
