Zakir Ahmed, NetSuiteNetSuite has hired Zakir Ahmed as VP and GM for Asia in what appears to be an intensification of the cloud software company's activities in that region. Based in Singapore Ahmed has the job of building the company's activities in its offices in Singapore, the Philippines and Hong Kong. His LinkedIn page shows he assumed the role in January.

In that month, San Mateo, Calif.-based NetSuite also promoted Reginald Singh as VP of business process management, also based in the Singapore office. Singh was previously the Asia GM from January 2014 through December 2015. Looking at LinkedIn pages of NetSuite manages and executives in the Pacific rim it looks like there's been a good deal of hiring—no great secret or big surprise given the company's growth and the strength of this market. Ahmed was previously GM of regional business unit of Sydney, Australia-based TechnologyOne from February 2014 through October 2015. Before that, he was with Salesforce.com from April 2005 through September 2012, having held the position of VP of the Asia Pacific region from April 2010. Operations in the Asia Pacific and Japan are headed by SVP and GM Lee Thompson, who moved into that job in January 2015.
