INTUIT ENVISIONS FIRM FUTURE Featured

CeCe morken, IntuitIntuit is envisioning QuickBooks Online Accountant as a platform to unify the software operations of tax and accounting firms. The view the future was outlined this week by EVP CeCe Morken at Intuit's investor day last week. Morken noted accountants utilize separate applications for tax preparation, accounting and practice management.

"We are going to provide one single place that they can serve their clients across their accounting, tax, consumer, self employed and small business in a single seamless, integrated experience," she said. I thought this was the kind of platform Intuit meant to announce two years ago with the "Big Reveal" at the first QuickBooks Connect but which turned out to be a big bust newswise. But Intuit has been moving to unify the structure of the organizations that market professional tax and accounting organizations and the fact that Morken, who head ProConnect professional tax business, gave the description of the vision shows how the structure, including QB Online, is coalescing. Intuit is willing to move some money around to make this happen. CEO Brad Smith had previously said Intuit would forego regular price increases for its professional tax products. Morken refined that to "We are going to have smaller price increases for ProConnect." Smith also said price increases would be built into the accounting products, but Morken said QuickBooks Accountant Online will remain free. On the tax side, "We will see lower revenue growth," she said. However, Intuit wants to grow pro market share and get the category growing again.
