KERR BUYS SOFTWARELINK Featured

David Kerr, Kerr ConsultingKerr Consulting has acquired Atlanta Ga.-based SoftwareLink. Last week, we reported SoftwareLink founder Stan Kania had given up the ERP business to concentrate on hosting. Paired with the deal was the news that private equity firm Proviso had acquired majority ownership in Kerr, based in The Woodlands, Texas.

SoftwareLink was a Sage-only VAR and one of the first to take on Sage X3. Founded in 1987, the firm, led by David Kerr, has long had a diverse financial software portfolio, with a legacy Cyma business. Kerr says the deal was made because, "We wanted to expand our X3 practice and add Sage 100 expertise. They were a perfect fit." The firm also carries AccountMate and Abila, which Kerr says is a small part of its business. The Proviso deal has longer-term potential as the investment firm reported to be working to expand Kerr's business through acquisitions and organic growth.
