SAGE CBCs: A CHANGED ROLE Featured

Ron McMurtie, SageSage announced its plans for its Customer Business Centers in June 2015 with two opening that year. At that time, it called for more centers to open in 2016 to revolutionize the way it supported and serviced customers—none did. Things appear to have changed since then.

"Mainly, they are a sales-and-delivery channel rather than a way we serve customers," Ron McMurtie, EVP of customer marketing, said in a recent interview. There are two centers, one in Atlanta, Ga., now the headquarters of Sage on this continent, and another in Dublin, Ireland. One is planned for Singapore "So we can follow the sun," McMurtie said. However, he gave no firm date. Atlanta handles the United States, Canada and Australia while Dublin serves France, Germany, Spain, Ireland and South Africa. The 2015 announcement called for an Asia center and at least one more in Africa. Alan Laing, who then headed Sage's channel programs, promised, "The CBCs will change everything, giving customers the support they need, every step of the way." The team in Atlanta has doubled since it opened with staff handling sales, implementation and specifications. McMurtie noted that 90 percent of the work is "done through chat and other online tools". The 2015 announcement also that the centers, which initially supported Sage Live (then called Sage Life) would add support for other applications. The Atlanta center supports Sage One and Sage Live, the latter built on the Salesforce1, platform, with one team dedicated to managing sales force.
