INTUIT'S BLUNDELL DIES Featured

Steve Blundell, IntuitSteve Blundell,who was a well-known figure in accounting firm technology, has died. Blundell, age 71, died in September after a battle with cancer. A resident of Helena, Ala., Blundell retired from Intuit in January after 20 years with the software company.

 

A celebration of life will be held in San Diego, Calif., in January with details to be made available later. Blundell was a partner with Pignato, Underwood, Blundell, a Delray Beach, Fla.-based accounting firm where he worked for 17 years. He and partner Larry Wolfe founded Direct Link Software which wrote the Accountant's Trial Balance for the American Institute of CPAs. Direct Link was purchased by ChipSoft, the original publisher of TurboTax, in 1997. ChipSoft was later acquired by Intuit where Wolfe became an EVP and headed the TurboTax Group, leading the launch of that product's online version. Blundell's titles included leader of non-tax development and VP of the Pro Series Tax Group. In his later years with the software company, he served as Accounting Customer Advocate.
