Satya Nadella, Microsoft Stock awards were the primary factor boosting Microsoft executive salaries for the year ended June 30. Information filed this week with the SEC showed the software company paid CEO Satya Nadella $25.8. million last year an increase of 29.1 percent from slightly than $20 million for 2017.

The biggest component of his compensation, and the area showing the biggest increase, was stock awards of $16.8 million for fiscal 2018, up 47 percent from $11.4 million the prior year. CFO Amy Hood took away slightly less than $15 million for the most recently ended year, an increase of 29 percent from $11.6 million the prior year, mainly from a stock award of $10.2 million, a 45.9 percent from slightly more than $7 million. Jean-Philippe Courtois, president of global sales marketing operation, made $11.1 million for 2018. His pay for 2017 was $18.3 million. However, that included a one-time stock award of $8.7 million when he was promoted to the named executive ranks that year.  Margaret L. Johnson, EVP of business development, received $8.8 million last year, an increase of 27.3 percent from $6.9 million in 2017. Bradford Smith, president and chief legal officer was given $13.5 million in 2018 compensation, up 30.9 percent from $10.3 million.
