ORACLE SEES FASTER CLOUD ADOPTION Featured

Mark Hurd, OracleMark Hurd, CEO of Oracle, says adoption of the cloud is going faster than anticipated. Hurd made his statements at his keynote at this week’s Oracle OpenWorld keynote, reiterating last year’s prediction 85 percent of production applications will be in the cloud by 2025.

“This is no longer a debate. The only thing we’re debating is the speed of getting this done,” Hurd said. He added predictions that 100 percent of cloud applications will include artificial intelligence; 85 percent of customer interactions will be automated; and 60 percent IT jobs have not been invented, but will be, all in the next seven years. He envisions new job roles such as supervisors for robots, smart city technology designers, AI-assisted healthcare technicians, and data professionals. He also predicts blockchain will be a feature of virtually all applications, helping enable the exchange of secure information.
