INFOR CANS FOURTHSHIFT EDITION

Following the acquisition of SouthBrands by one of its affiliates, software giant Infor has dumped the FourthShift Edition, a manufacturing package for SAP's Business One software. One reseller mused that it was because SAP competes with Infor.

An Infor spokesperson confirmed the information in a letter sent by Ralf Mehnert-Meland, global SME VP for SAP's software channel, who wrote that Infor would maintain the FourthShift Edition for existing clients but "does not plan to make an assertive push to move customers to other Infor products." The installed base can add sites, seats and modules and renew maintenance and support agreements. SAP has a list of manufacturing systems with certified integrations with products from Variatec at the top of the list, its offerings having achieved the Enabled by SAP Business One status (just how much status that conveys is obviously a matter of opinion.)
