COLUMBUS IT TAKES HIT IN AMERICAS

Danish reseller Columbus IT Partner had more luck selling software it developed than it did as a traditional reseller of other company's products for the third quarter ended September 30.

Revenue from the United States fell to $14.2, down 26.6 percent (when calculated in Danish Kroner) from roughly $19.3 million from last year's corresponding period. Company-wide third quarter revenue was $12.2 million, down 15 percent from $142.1 million a year ago. However, Columbus IT said adjusted for currency change and its sale of subsidiaries last year, revenue was down only 5 percent. The company had better luck with its ToIncrease software development company, which rose to $10.6 million, up from $5.83 million a year ago. The financial report did not state if this reflected recognition of income of more than $5 million from sale of its AX retail application to Microsoft. The after-tax loss for continuing operations more than doubled to about $1.6 million from roughly $739,000 a year earlier. On a product basis, Dynamics AX sales were off 17 percent and Dynamics Nav were down 14.5 percent for the nine months. Despite the drop, the company's official statement was that it was starting to see recovery in some countries. There was a markedly different result in Americas as AX sales dropped by 49.4 recent while NAV income was down less than half a percent for the three quarters. However, the region’s results reflect the fact that five out of six Columbus IT subsidiaries were sold in December with the company continuing to own only the U.S. unit.
