SAP HOSTING EVENT: HIRES CHANNEL VP
Before making any deep analysis about an SAP invitation to a channel event in Las Vegas in late February, I was thinking the company tends to have its get-togethers for Business One VARs about this time of year. But I was happy to hear from SAP. I thought maybe it had lost email privileges.
Still, this event comes within the time frame that has been posited as a period for hearing about a channel program for the legendary BusinessByDesign, code finally manifested as real product in the United States. That invitation comes in the same period in which SAP said that Kevin Gilroy had been hired as VP for channel and business development functions for SAP's small and midsized business organizations in North America. His job is to build the dealer channel and alternate channels. Gilroy was previously president for its Enterprise Computing Solutions division of Arrow Electronics. That does look like the kind of guy you want in place for building a channel for a high-profile SaaS product for the future of your company.
