CBIZ TECH SALE NEAR?

Steve Gerard, CbizWhen CBiz said during the last week it was discontinuing its technology operations, CEO Steve Gerard did not state that the company was actively marketing any of the three companies, which include a Dynamics GP reselling operation. However, word was the at least that part of the operations, which include a networking company, might have found a buyer. And the potential buyer mentioned was Doug Weintraub's Socius.
That would make sense as CBiz is based in Cleveland, Ohio, and Socius originated south of Cleveland, with offices now in Cincinnati, Columbus and Brecksville, Ohio. I placed a call yesterday to Weintraub, but wouldn't expect comment on a pending deal. While CBiz had pictured its midmarket operations as having $13 million to $14 million operations, those amounts cover all three of its units CBiz Technology and CBIZ Network Solutions, and a smaller unit in the Cleveland area whose services include VoIP. The company's financials do not separate the amounts. Socius, a member of the InterDyn consortium, has been performing extremely well and is the only company to be named simultaneously to Microsoft's Inner Circle and Sage's President Circle, and accomplished that in multiple years. Recently, it also joined up with some of its InterDyn colleagues and other firms in forming Advanced Distribution Partners, to market a distribution product for Dynamics AX. Socius had $11.9 million in revenue for 2009.
