NEW BBD TO BE CHEAPER, SIMPLER

When version two of SAP's Internet-based BusinessByDesign hits the market, it will be less expensive, simpler to use and provide more functionality, a top executive said earlier this month. Mark White, CFO of SAP North America, made the statement at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, but declined to provide more specifics since SAP plans to announce those at its May Sapphire conference.
But his comments, and questions from the conference moderator, make it clear that lack of features and ease of use were issues in the first version, which has had limited release and led the product to be far behind SAP's original financial expectations. Asked if the product would be open to integration, instead of being "closed and you couldn’t do anything", White said over time it would become more open. However, White indicated that a  more-open architecture won't be available in the first version. White said the company is committed to have BBD as a multi-tenanted system at a lower price.
