MICROSOFT MAKES NOISE ABOUT CRM TECH RELEASE

Microsoft has announced the Community Technical Preview 3 for the next version of Dynamics CRM which it code-named CRM 5. I guess there was some cost-cutting involving the group that comes up with code names. The announcement said this is aimed primarily at software developers and after trying to wade through the blogs and videos that it points to for further information, I concluded, "Yeah, it is."

I think I'll wait for it to go to DVD before watching this movie. This for the ISVs, VARs and system integrators so they can develop and test their applications for the release. The company is talking release in the second half of 2010. There's not a lot in the press release for non-techies about what's being added. In many ways, this has the appearance of an announcement made for marketing purposes to keep the noise level up on the way to Convergence. A statement about Brad Wilson, CRM for the product, seems to point that direction. "With this next version, Microsoft is continuing to drive new levels of user productivity and collaboration, giving customers deep core CRM capabilities, low total cost of ownership, and fast and easy deployment options for their CRM applications,” Wilson said. With a description like that, I can hardly wait.
