EVEREST FOUNDER JOINS ACUMATICA

Acumatica, which makes Internet-based accounting software, has hired Ali Jani, the founder of the former Everest Software, as VP of product management. The press release from the Bethesda, Md.-based Acumatica said Jani pioneered the first “all-in-one ERP solution for multi-channel SMBs.” Everest was originally known as iCode. At Everest, Jani was responsible for product development and the business direction of Everest since its acquisition by Versata Software in August.
Everest tried to set up a channel, but its efforts weren’t very successful and my recollection is that over the years, it went through a series of changes in top management. Versata lets its companies continue to operate under their prior names and the Everest Web page is open at www.everestsoftwareinc.com. There haven’t been any announcements from Everest since the Versata deal was listed on the Web page.  That’s the opposite of Acumatica which has issued a steady stream of releases and apparently is very persistent in contacting resellers as it builds its own base.
