SAGE CONSIDERS ANOTHER X3 IMPORT

Sage X3Sage North America is studying whether to bring X3 Standard, a less-sophisticated version of its high-end manufacturing package into the United States. During the Insights reseller conference, that product's name got translated by the gossip mill into "X2", which serves as a handy way to think about the product, although not an officially accurate term. The version of X3 that has been introduced here is the X3 Premium, according to Himanshu Palsule, VP of product strategy and marketing for Sage Business Solutions.
X3 Standard comes preconfigured.  There's no indication how soon Sage might make a decision. The possibility of "X2" hitting the United States has also given rise to more intense speculation about the future of MAS 500, with the rumor mill thinking that the introduction of a SQL version of MAS 200, coupled with X3 obviates much of the need for MAS 500. Palsule denied Sage thinks this way about the latter package and said Sage has actually broadened the MAS 500 feature set. There was a lot of talk from resellers asking just how good X3 is – advocates say it is terrific – with some of the better VARs who are not already on board mulling the possibility of joining the very small number of dealers who will be authorized. Sage execs have previously conceded they may have pushed some VARs into MAS 500 who weren’t ready for it, so there is likely to be a lot more tinkering with that product and its channel.
