CIS SELLS OUT

The CIS Consulting Group, which was a chairman’s circle Sage reseller this year, has sold its assets to three different companies as the company draws an end to its independent existence. It was something like Austria, Russia and Prussia partitioning Poland in the late 1700s as the Timberline VAR sold its East Coast Sage practice to the Aktion Group of Maumee, Ohio, and the West Coast Sage business to Manhattan Beach, Calif.-based Alliance Systems Group. Professional services and sales and marketing resources were acquired by Viewpoint Construction Software of Portland, Ore.

Viewpoint’s construction management software is sold to general contractors, heavy and highway contractors, and specialty contractors. CIS principals Chuck Elyea and Jim Campbell remain in the Charlotte, N.C., office with Elyea becoming market development manager for Viewpoint and Campbell assuming the role of sales leader for international markets outside of sales. Elea was a VP of sales of Sage/Timberline before joining CIS. All CIS employees are joining Viewpoint, according to a CIS press release. There has been notable consolidation in the Timberline base. In September, Alliance Solutions Group merged in the software division of Effective Resources Gulf States and in October hired Bob Griffith who had operated Texas State Construction Systems, another Timberline VAR. The CIS tale apparently changed when it become a Viewpoint reseller last summer and everybody appears to have gotten along. Viewpoint has also picked up United Solutions of Marlborough, Mass., another Timberline VAR, in the Viewpoint channel program. Should I read anything into the fact that United's website lists Viewpoint first on the product page?
