CONVERGENCE VS. SAPPHIRE

So I can’t justify going to Sapphire, SAP’s big user conference in May. But I am going to Convergence in Atlanta tomorrow to make sure I hit the Randy and Andy party.  The real event starts on Sunday with a reception at the Georgia Aquarium. (I think aquariums must be on the agenda planner’s list. I’ve been at conference events at the following: Baltimore, 2x; New Orleans, 2x, Chicago, 1x, Boston 1x Georgia 1x).

And we get to see the World of Coca-Cola where we can “See the world’s largest collection of Coke memorabilia” and all the different Coke lines. (A guy in Manhattan once offered me the chance to see different lines of coke. I don’t think it was quite the same.) Or I could attend Sapphire and see Sting. Okay, but Microsoft is starting off with a keynote from Kirill Tatarinov, who heads the Dynamics effort and CEO Steve Ballmer famous for his frenetic advertisement “with prices so low, we’re almost giving them away.” Sorry, that was maniac from another era. Ballmer, sort of the Terry Bradshaw of the software business, is better known for yelling “We’re screwed” in the Microsoft halls. Actually, Microsoft puts out the big money for entertainment at the World Wide Partner conference, which this year is conveniently scheduled opposite the Sage Summit conference in July. ... Don’t stand … Don’t stand so … Don’t stand so close …Forget it.
