SAP NEW BBD LAUNCHES TODAY

Jim Hagemann SnabeVersion 2.5 of SAP'S Business By Design application launches today although in the tortured history of the online product it's the first version to hit the market in volume. But despite the fun competitors have had with SAP's mistakes to date, company executives this week expressed confidence they have a winner with CO-CEO Jim Hagemann Snabe declaring in an earnings Webcast that, "With SAP Business By Design, we have a true category killer to fundamentally change the on-demand market."
He also noted that with the move to what he called a true multi-tenanted architecture and improved economics with the introduction of data packages, "customers can adopt the solution with as few as 10 users and move to the complete suite over time." It was generally a good week for the German company as it was able to announced its tender offer for Sybase was successful and the merger is expected to be completed soon. Financially, the period ended June 30 was a good one with income hitting $558 million, up 15 percent as measured in euros, revenue was $3.79 billion, up 12 percent. Webcast Lesson: Make sure the microphone is off. After SAP formally ended its Webcast, with a discussion about the strength of northern Europe versus Southern, one of the execs blurted out "Greece is great". At least it was a positive statement.
