MICROSOFT OFFERS SMALL BIZ COMPETENCY

Microsoft is adding a Small Business Competency as one of the specializations in which members of the Microsoft Partner Network can qualify for silver or gold levels in a knowledge area. The definition of small business is quite liberal as Microsoft described the opportunity as including the “worldwide addressable software market for small and midsize businesses.”

The company said the new competency, which officially launches in June, will have a special emphasis on cloud services. In the official announcement, the company described the certification as involving those channel members who deal with Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Small Business Server 2011 and Microsoft Office 365. While Dynamics was not mentioned, you’d have to assume from the fact that the target includes midsize businesses that this is something many VARs would wish to have.
