DELTEK FOUNDER DIES

Donald deLaskiDonald deLaski, who cofounded Deltek in 1983, died on March 9 at the age of 80. According to Deltek's website, deLaksi provided $100,000 in capital to fund the programming effort to write the first versions of the company's software. Deltek said deLaski had battled asthma all his life and died of lung disease.

DeLaski was CEO of the company until 1996 when his son Kenneth took over the job. DeLaski also founded the Donald and Nancy deLaski Foundation, granting over $40 million to local charities over the past 10 years. New Mountain Funds purchased a majority ownership from the deLaski family in 2005. The new owners recapitalized and built the company through a series of acquisitions. Deltek went public in 2007.
