EPICOR BUYS TOP VAR

Uluomatootua Saulaulu Aiono, CogitaEpicor just put an end to the company that has been its Global Partner of the Year for the last four years. The Dublin, Calif.-based software company has acquired virtually all of the assets of New Zealand-based Cogita Holdings. The deal is expected to close by May 31. No terms were announced.
Most Cogita employees will be offered Epicor jobs and the American company has acquired customer contracts and related intellectual property and other assets including offices in Auckland, N.Z., and Adelaide, Australia. Epicor said the additions means it would have nearly 100 employees and 600 customers in the region. Buying channel tends to be habit-forming. That happened with Exact which reduced its reseller numbers dramatically. When Epicor 9 was rolled out, Epicor started recruiting good resellers. Cogita was established in 1983 and operated as Cogita Business Services. Cogita was founded by its owner Uluomatootua Saulaulu Aiono. An article in the New Zealand Herald of December 31 reported Cogita has "annual sales in the tens of millions."  The company's LinkedIn site says it has more than 60 employees and with 58 on LinkedIn there probably are not many more.
