SAGE CANS FAS SALES FORCE

Joe Langner, SageSage North America has dismissed  its channel sales force for its fixed assets products. The sales representatives and managers are losing their jobs this week as Sage combines the channel management with the ERP businesses and its regional account managers. According to VARs, those losing their jobs included individuals with decades of experience at Sage.

A Sage spokesperson confirmed that "there some reductions made last week, as part of our ongoing efforts to best balance resources across Sage," but did not address the specific areas..One reseller said the FAS operations have been almost an independent company. "This is about ten years overdue in my book," he said. "I have no idea how FAS survived as a fairly independent business unit so long." The changes are supposed to be discussed Friday by Joe Langner, EVP of Mid-Market Solutions, as part of an expanded quarterly sales recognition and business update webcast. According to a notice to the channel from Tom Miller, VP of channel management, Langner "will share how the sales and marketing organizational structure has been aligned with the FY13 strategy." Such a re-organization appears to follow the announced goal of having Sage operate as one company. The appointment of the company's first chief marketing officer at the parent Sage Group recently also seems to fit that pattern
