AKTION BUYS FCA TECHNOLOGIES

Scott Urwin, Aktion AssociatesAktion Associates, based in Maumee, Ohio, has purchased what it describes as selected assets of FCA Technologies. Steve Rogers, co-owner of Tysons Corner, Va.-based FCA Technologies has been named Aktion professional services manager while the deal adds 10 employees  to the Aktion staff in the Northeast. Terms were not disclosed. A Sage reseller, FCA was founded in 1983 and serves the Washington, D.C., area.

Aktion president  Scott E. Urwin described the deal as the third in a series of strategic investments. His intent is not to expand into new geographies but will concentrate on developing brand and market share in the about 15 states in which Aktion operates. While there are no active deals in the pipeline, Urwin said, "There are probably half a dozen other organizations I have my eye on and if they wanted to put themselves in play I’d be interested." Aktion expanded via two acquisitions in 2011. Those were the CIS Consulting Group, a Sage reseller based in Charlotte, N.C., in January 2011 and the Raleigh, N.C., based-ICS Group, another Sage VAR. Aktion carries Sage 100 Contractor and Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate applications, along with Deltek Vision and Intacct. All of these products target project-based companies that include construction, architects and engineers, and professional services. In 2012, Aktion was No. 24 on the Top 100 list with $14.1 million in revenue and obviously is on a path to add to that for 2013.
