DYNAMICS IN THE CLOUDS?

Dynamics logoAs they said in the old westerns, "It's quiet out there; too quiet." The question is whether Microsoft has something going on in the clouds or is completely clueless about putting its Dynamics ERP packages into a SaaS environment. I have a lot of trouble believing a company that has been this successful is completely clueless, although you can't rule it out.
If you think about it, the fact that Microsoft's heavily touting a cloud-based version of Dynamics CRM, then Internet-based versions of the accounting products are inevitable, unless it wants to become the next Salesforce. A quick search of LinkedIn via its advanced search feature, plugging in words such as Microsoft, cloud, SaaS, engineer, manager, architect and director, quickly brings up a few employees involved in developing something in the cloud for ERP and SaaS products for small to medium-sized business. Supposing these people have teams working with them, then something is being hatched. But when is anything likely to emerge from the oven? I've heard some betting on 2012 with one thought that the relationship of ISVs for the on-premise products to the SaaS versions is a tough issue.
